Specifying updates for automatic approval

You can select specific update types to be installed on computers automatically, that is, without you needing to approve them first. For example, you might want to ensure that critical and security updates are installed automatically.

To specify updates that are automatically approved for installation

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Software and then expand Windows Updates.

  2. From the right-hand pane, under Automatic Approvals, click the Edit button.

  3. In the list, tick the update types that you want to be approved automatically.

  4. If you want later versions of approved updates to be automatically approved, tick the 'Automatically approve new versions...' box.

  5. Click OK.

The update types you selected are listed under Automatic Approvals with a tick alongside. The window also shows whether new versions will be automatically approved.
