Importing a policy

You can import any policy that has previously been exported, and import a previous version of a policy to replace the current version.

By default, exported policy files are saved on the server in the folder D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Type Manager\Export although you may have used a different location.

Previous versions of edited policies are automatically saved on the server in the folder D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Type Manager\Backup.

To import a policy

To import a policy, do the following:

  1. Choose Picture of the Import icon In the toolbar and from the menu choose Computer Policy or User Policy, as appropriate.

  2. Browse to locate the registry file you want to import (.rpl file), select it and click Open.

  3. Type a name for the policy.

  4. Optionally, to overwrite an existing policy with the same name, tick the 'Overwrite...' box.

  5. Click OK.

Notes

  • Import does not change the user membership for the policy; it imports only the settings. For more information, see the Users option Help.

  • After you have imported a user policy, you can apply it to users by using the RM Management Console, Users option.

  • After you have imported a computer policy, you can apply it to computers, by using the RM Management Console, Computers option.

  • To import a policy, you can also choose Picture of the Import icon In the toolbar, or from the File menu, choose Import, and then choose Registry Policy.
