How to manually set up DNS entries
Overview:
- This document will guide you through manual Internet configuration requiring DNS entries in the Network settings - TCP/IP properties.
Procedure:- Log on as the user Manager.
- Remove RM ClassMate system guard with the Engineer's password. For more information how to do this

- Log on as the user Manager
- Right click on Network Neighborhood and click on Properties.
- The following screen will appear. Note that some of the entries are machine specific, so your entries may differ slightly.

- Click on TCP/IP ->Dial-Up Adapter, then click on Properties.

- Click on the DNS Configuration tab - if the settings for the DNS servers are not there (i.e. the larger white box below DNS Server Search Order is empty) type in the following in the smaller box: 194.238.48.3
- Click on Add.
- The settings should now appear in the larger white box below.
- Again in the smaller box, type in: 194.238.48.2
- Click on Add.
- Write down the numbers in the DNS Server Search Order box - these will be needed later.
- Click OK to close the first window and click OK to close the next.
- Log off as Manager by clicking on Start button and clicking on the Logoff Manager option, click Yes when prompted.
- Log on as the user Internet.
- Right click on the top grey toolbar and click on Maintain.
- Enter the Manager's password and press Enter.
- Double click on Explorer in the Manager's Tools window.
- In the left hand pane of the Windows Explorer window, use the down arrow to scroll down to the bottom of the list of entries to Dial-Up Networking.
- Double-click on Dial-Up Networking on the right-hand side there should be a connection icon usually labelled IFL.
- Right click on the Internet connection icon (IFL) and click on Properties.
- Click on the Server Types tab.
- Ensure that there is a tick in the following boxes ONLY ... Enable software compression and TCP/IP.
- Click on the TCP/IP Settings button near the bottom of this window.
- Ensure there is a black dot in Server assigned IP address, if there is not then click on the white dot.
- Click on Specify Name Server Addresses bullet to enable DNS input.
- Click in the first section in Primary DNS and type 194.238.48.3.
- Click in the first section in Secondary DNS and type 194.238.48.2.
- Ensure both check boxes below are ticked, if not then click on the relevant box to change this.
- Click OK and OK once again.
- Click on the cross box in the top right hand corner of the screen to close Explorer.
- Exit Maintenance mode by right clicking on the grey toolbar at the top of the screen and clicking on Exit Maintenance Mode.
