Editing a file rule

You can edit a file rule to change some of its properties.

To edit a file rule

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Software icon Software and choose Picture of the Software Restriction Policies icon Software Restriction Policies.

  2. From the right-hand pane, double-click a file rule.

  3. Browse to change the path and/or file name.

  4. Optionally, change the description.

  5. From the Rule drop-down list, select the rule to be applied to the specified file.

  6. Click OK.

  7. To commit your changes, click Save. Alternatively, to remove all your changes since the last time you saved, click the Revert button, then click Yes.

Notes

  • File rules that allow access are listed with the Picture of the Allowed File icon icon, and file rules that do not allow access are listed with the Picture of the Disallowed File icon icon.

  • When necessary, any user policy can be exempted from software restriction policies. When you edit the properties of the user policy, in the Software Restrictions category, ensure the 'Exempt from Software Restriction Policies' setting is ticked.
