Changing settings

You exert precise control over your computers and users by changing the settings within a registry policy. In the right-hand pane, you can choose the registry policy categories and settings you want to change.

When a setting does not apply as expected this is most likely to be due to a setting in the same or another policy taking priority. For example, the All Computer policy settings always override the settings in computer policies, and user policy settings always override the settings in Internet & Email Settings.

Notes

  • When you edit a user policy that is already applied to users, the change(s) will apply to those users the next time they log on.

  • When you edit a computer policy that is already applied to computers, the change(s) will apply to those computers the next time they are switched on or rebooted.

  • When registry policies are not being applied correctly to users or computers, you may want to run a health check. See Related Topics.
