Monitoring a printer

Monitoring a printer allows you to specify the number of credits required to print a page from the printer. By default, a printer is set to not be monitored.

To monitor a printer

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Printers icon Printers and choose All Printers.

  2. From the right-hand pane, right-click the printer and from the menu, choose Properties.

  3. Choose the Printer Credits tab.

  4. Tick the 'Users are charged for using this printer' box.

  5. From the 'Cost per page' drop-down list, select the number of credits that a page will cost to print, between 0 and 1000, or leave the default value of 1 for a monochrome printer or 2 for a colour printer.

  6. Click OK.

Notes

  • When you add a printer, it can take up to 20 minutes for the printer credits database to update. You cannot change any of the printer properties until this has occurred.

  • If you choose to monitor printing, this will take approximately 10 minutes to take effect.

  • If you choose not to monitor printing, there will be no control over how many pages users can print, even if they have been given an allowance of printer credits.

  • Printer properties are also available by selecting the printer and choosing Picture of the Properties button in the toolbar, or from the File menu choosing Properties.
