Moving a computer

If you change the physical location of a computer, you should update its location in the RM Management Console. This will cause the computer to automatically inherit properties from its new location. For example, if a printer has been set up for the location, users will automatically be provided with a connection to this printer when they log on to the computer.

If a computer needs to be used in several locations, for example, a laptop, you can specify that a computer in a location is allowed to roam. See Help topics about Locations for further information.

To move a computer

From the left-hand pane, expand Computers and choose All Computers.
From the right-hand pane, right-click the computer and from the menu, choose Move.
Select the location that you wish to move the computer to.
Click OK. The computer is moved to the new location.

Notes

You can use the same process to move multiple computers. First select all of the computers that you wish to move.
Once you have made any changes to a computer's properties, the computer must be restarted for the new settings to take effect.
