RM Notebook 320 GUID information
Published Date : 17 Apr 2013   Last Updated : 04 Oct 2024   Content Ref: TEC3227162

Cause

Supply chain

The Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) in some stock of RM Notebook 320 have 13 to 30 characters populated by zeros. Normally, all 30 characters should be random hexadecimal numbers.

For example, 0090F5E0-FD0E-0000-0000-000000000000

This has been caused by a supply chain issue. The use of these GUIDs should have no impact in use. The first 12 characters have been set as the MAC address of the notebook and are therefore unique.

Procedure

No changes are required

The GUID in this format should not cause any issues as it will still be unique. There is no process to change this at present, but we will continue to work with the supplier to resolve the issue on future shipments.
