How to create a Word (Online), Excel (Online), or PowerPoint (Online) M365 Establishment Link tile in RM Unify
Published Date : 12 May 2026   Content Ref: TEC10524353

Symptoms

It is not possible to access the online versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint directly via RM Unify, given you cannot single sign-on to these services directly.

It is, however, possible to create Establishment Link tiles which will directly open the online versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, providing you have signed into Microsoft® 365™ (M365) using an official RM Unify provided M365 app that supports single sign-on, e.g. 'Mail' at least once during your RM Unify session.

This article explains how to do this.

Requirements

  • RM Unify Premium subscription
  • RM Unify is federated to a Microsoft 365 domain
  • RM Unify Administrator level logon

Procedure

How to create the Establishment Link tiles

The URLs you require for each Establishment Link tile are as follows:

Example tile images for Word, Excel and PowerPoint can be found in the Download section of this article. Please download these before proceeding

This example will cover Word (Online) and the process for Excel and PowerPoint is the same.

Note: You will need to change the Word reference to Excel or PowerPoint at steps 4 and 7 below, depending on which Establishment Link tile you are creating.

  1. Log on as an RM Unify Admin level user.
  2. Click the App Library link at the top of the Launch Pad.
  3. Click the '+Add' button (top-left).
  4. In the Title box, enter a Title, e.g. 'Word (Online)'.
  5. In the 'Address (URL)' box, enter https://www.office.com/launch/word?auth=2.
  6. The Subtitle box is optional and doesn't need completing.
  7. The Description box is optional, but it is recommended to enter: IMPORTANT: You must have signed into M365 using an official RM Unify app that supports SSO E.g. 'Mail', before this App tile will work -  otherwise you will be presented with a standard Microsoft logon screen instead of Word (Online) opening.
  8. Upload the 'microsoft-word-2025-153.png' tile image file via the 'Upload Image' button (or click Generate Thumbnail to add a system generated blank, default image if you'd prefer).
  9. Click OK.
  10. Select the Roles and Launch Pads which require access to this new Establishment Link tile by ticking the appropriate boxes.
  11. Click Save at the bottom of the screen.

Checks

Test the new tiles to verify access to the online versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint which are provided with M365 are working as expected.

Possible Issues

If you are presented with a standard Microsoft logon page once you have selected one of these new Establishment Link tiles, you haven't accessed M365 via a standard RM Unify SSO app tile first e.g. 'Mail'.

This is a requirement for these app tiles to work, given Establishment Link tiles don't support single sign-on logon into M365.
