Determining the IP address
|
- Logon to the workstation or server as an administrative user.
- From the Start menu choose Run.
- In the Open box type cmd and then click OK.
- At the Command Prompt type ipconfig and then press Enter.
The IP address and Subnet mask will now be displayed on the window.
To close the Command Prompt window type exit and then press Enter.
Alternatively, you can also follow the steps below:
- Click Start, Control Panel.
- In the Search Control Panel field, type adapter and press Enter.
- Under 'Network and Sharing Center', click 'View network connections'.
- Select active network connection.
- In the toolbar, select 'View status of this connection'. The Local Area Connection Status window opens.
- Click Details.
The network details will now be displayed. |
Additional IPConfig switches
|
More detailed IP information can be displayed by using a switch after typing ipconfig.
- Follow the instructions above, but in step 4 type ipconfig/all and press Enter.
