Summary
Details the process of updating the first name, last name, display name or role of a CSV/manually created RM Unify user account
Symptoms
You have a manually created, or CSV created, RM Unify account and need to update the first name, last name, display name or role.
Cause
These user account attributes can only be updated via a CSV file upload.
Note: Although the RM Unify Management Console contains an Actions menu for user accounts, it can only be used to update the username and email address.
Requirements
Note: You can only update an RM Unify account in this way if it has a'Sourced From' value of CSV. If the 'Sourced From' value is different, e.g. LANSync or MIS, then the attribute changes will automatically sync to RM Unify from Active Directory/CC4 or your MIS respectively.
You can check the 'Sourced From' value by following the steps below:
Log on to RM Unify as an admin.
At the top of your Launch Pad, click the Management Console link.
In the 'Users & Groups' section on the left, select Users.
Locate the user in question and select their Username.
A detailed RM Unify account details will be displayed, including the 'Sourced From' value that needs to be checked before proceeding with this change.
Procedure
Once you have verified that the 'Source From' value for the accounts that are to be updated is CSV:
Log on as an RM Unify Administrator level user.
At the top of your Launch Pad, click the Management Console link.
On the left, select 'Sync users from CSV'.
Select 'Generate a CSV of my existing RM Unify Users' (on the right).
Open the generated 'EstablishmentUsers.csv' in Microsoft® Excel.
Ensuring that you keep row 1 (the column headings), delete all other user rows, except for the user you wish to update.
Update the required field(s) with the desired changes. Note: Accepted role values (which are case-sensitive) are Student, TeachingStaff, NonTeachingStaff, Governor and Other.
Save the updated '.CSV' to a location of your choice.
Again, click the Management Console link.
On the left, select 'Sync users from CSV'.
Click the Browse button and navigate to the new CSV you saved in step 8 above.
Tick 'My CSV does not contain year of entry'. Important note: Make sure that the 'Overwrite passwords for existing RM Unify users' is not ticked. Also, ensure that the 'Delete users from RM Unify if they are not present in CSV' is not ticked.
Click the Upload button, a message stating "Updating x user(s) with values from CSV" should be displayed.
Wait for five minutes and then recheck the user. Any name/role changes should now be reflected in RM Unify. Target systems, e.g. Microsoft 365/Google, will pick up the changes shortly afterwards.
