Summary
Describes what the 'resync' feature does and how to use it.
Cause
What a 'resync' will do?
The resync will upload the user data that is currently showing in each AD filter's user container to RM Unify, which is of use when a change to one or more users is shown in the AD Sync Config Tool, but is not being reflected in RM Unify.
Important: The resync will also resend the network password hash captured by AD Sync for the users showing in each AD filter. If any user has recently had their password changed directly in the RM Unify Management Console (e.g. by an RM Unify administrator or teacher) and their RM Unify account password is not in sync with their network password then they will, in effect, have their RM Unify password reverted to match their network password. This is the expected RM Unify AD Sync behaviour where AD is the source of data truth.
What a 'resync' will not do?
A resync will not scan your AD and check for user changes that are not already showing in the AD Sync Config Tool. If changes to your AD users are not reflected in the AD Sync Config Tool, then manually run a 'Check now' under each AD filter.
Procedure
How to run a resync?
A resync can be run in two modes, with or without processing account deletes. The default setting is 'without deletes' (a tick box, unticked by default), but as this can be changed at any time, you must confirm the setting before running a resync. Failure to do so may result in accidental deletion of accounts.
On the server with RM Unify AD Sync installed, open the RM Unify AD Sync Config Tool. Note: If you do not have a shortcut to the RM Unify AD Sync Config Tool, you can open it by double-clicking C:\Program Files(x86)\RM\RM Unify AD Sync\RM.Networks.IdentityManagement.ConfigTool.exe.
In the left-hand view, expand the folders until you see the icon for the establishment you wish to resync; select this.
In the right-hand view, ensure that the box adjacent to the text, 'On resync, delete any users in RM unify that do not match an AD filter' is unticked.
Click Resync.
The resync will run and you will see that the status changes from Requested to In Progress and then to None Scheduled once complete. You may need to refresh the page to see an updated status and depending on the size of your AD, the resync may take more than an hour to complete.
Wait for the status to return to None Scheduled.
Check the RM Unify Management Console for the desired changes.
