Error "This account cannot be accessed because the domain is incorrectly configured" when accessing Google Workspace
Published Date : 03 May 2017   Last Updated : 04 Oct 2024   Content Ref: TEC5678165

Symptoms

You have a Google Workspace for Education domain federated to RM Unify which you use to access services, such as Gmail and Google Drive, via tiles on your Launch Pad. However, when you click a Google Workspace tile, you see the following error message:

"This account cannot be accessed because the domain is incorrectly configured. Please try again later."

This message is seen for all RM Unify users.

Cause

This error can be displayed if your Google Workspace domain does not have the requisite RM Unify verification certificate installed. To confirm the certificate is not installed:

  1. Log on to your Google Workspace domain as a Google super admin user.
  2. Navigate to https://admin.google.com/ac/security/sso/domain-sso-profile.
  3. Under the 'Third-party identity provider' section, the 'Verification certificate' setting will read 'No file uploaded'.

Requirements

You will need to use a Google super admin account in the affected domain in order to perform the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Download the rmunifygsuitecert.cer file from the Download section below and save it on your desktop.
  2. Please ensure that you open a new browser session and are not already logged on to either Google or RM Unify.
  3. Log on as a Google super admin user in your Google Workspace domain.
  4. Navigate to https://admin.google.com/ac/security/sso/domain-sso-profile.
  5. Under the 'Verification certificate' setting, click CHOOSE FILE and upload the rmunifygsuitecert.cer file.
  6. Once complete, the setting will read, 'A certificate file has been uploaded'.

Checks

In a new browser session, log on as an RM Unify user and confirm that clicking any Google Workspace tile now takes you to the appropriate Google service, Gmail, Google Drive etc. If the error persists, please raise an RM Support call for further investigation.
