Error "Ownership of your Google Workspace domain couldn't be verified with Google" displayed
Published Date : 17 Jun 2016   Last Updated : 23 Jul 2024   Content Ref: TEC5215056

Symptoms

RM Cloud Service Delivery can assist you with your Google Workspace federation. For further information, please speak to your Sales representative on 01235 645 316 or email getintouch@rm.com, quoting this article.

You are federating Google Workspace to RM Unify but after entering the access code and clicking Next, the error below is displayed:

"Ownership of your Google Workspace domain couldn't be verified with Google. Please check the entered access code and try again".

You have correctly verified your Google domain already.

Cause

This can occur in the following instances:

  • As part of the federation process, a temporary user is created in your tenancy. The user has a random username and password. If you have set a small value in the Maximum Length field (e.g. 20 characters), this may prevent the temporary user from being created.
  • One or more of your existing Google Workspace user accounts has no value for first and/or last name.
  • API access is not enabled in the Google Workspace tenancy.

Procedure

To check for maximum password length
  1. As a Google Workspace administrator, browse to the Google Admin console.
  2. Click Security and find the Password Management section.
  3. Under Strength, in the Maximum Length field, temporarily increase the maximum password length to 50 characters.
  4. Click 'Save changes'.
  5. Return to the RM Unify App Library and click the Google Workspace tile to restart the Google wizard and proceed with federation.

To check for missing first or last name
  1. As a Google Workspace administrator, browse to the Google Admin console.
  2. Click Users.
  3. Click 'Download all users' and complete the download of user information.
  4. In the downloaded spreadsheet, apply a filter to the first name column and find any users with '(blank)' or no first name. Please make a note of their email addresses.
  5. Remove the filter.
  6. Apply a filter to the last name column and find any users with '(blank)' or no last name. Please make a note of their email addresses.
  7. Return to the Google Admin Console and click Users.
  8. For each user with a missing value, double-click the user to edit.
  9. Click Update User.
  10. Add a value for first and/or last name.
  11. Click Update User.

Review API controls
  1. Ask your Google Workspace administrator to review the API controls and settings set in your Google Workspace tenancy.
