Summary
Explains why you are unable to edit the Active Directory (AD) filter called Users on RM Unify AD Sync Service.
Symptoms
In the RM Unify AD Sync Configuration tool, you created and configured an Active Directory (AD) filter called Users. When you subsequently try to edit the filter, the Configuration window does not display and instead you see a window with columns Establishment AD Filter and 'SAM account name'.
Cause
You cannot successfully use a filter with a display name of Users. This is because the name is already in use as a tree view to display which users have and have not been uploaded to RM Unify.
Procedure
Right-click the Users filter and select Delete AD filter.
Recreate the filter with a different display name, e.g. RM Unify Users.
If you find that the Delete AD filter item in Step 1 above is greyed out then it is likely that the AD filter was originally created with a valid display name, users were provisioned to RM Unify and then the display name of the filter was changed to Users. You cannot delete an AD filter if it has previously successfully provisioned users to RM Unify. In this instance the only way to recover is to:
Uninstall RM Unify AD Sync.
Rename the folder C:\Program files (x86)\RM\RM Unify AD Sync to C:\Program files (x86)\RM\RM Unify AD SYncOLD. If the server with RM Unify AD Sync installed has a 32-bit operating system then the folder path will be C:\Program files\RM\RM Unify AD Sync.
Install RM Unify AD Sync.
Register your school and configure your AD filters and role mappings again.
