Published Date : 29 May 2014   Last Updated : 04 Oct 2024   Content Ref: TEC3905787

Symptoms

RM Unify AD Sync has stopped uploading users. It previously worked and you have made no configuration changes. In the AD Sync log files, you will see one of the following error messages:

'' "RM Unify upload timer",ERROR,"PerformWork","Credentials failed for Unify Login Display Name (1234abc) to connect to https://api.platform.rmunify.com/unifyprovisioning/identityprovider.svc - System.ApplicationException: There was an error connecting to https://api.platform.rmunify.com/unifyprovisioning/identityprovider.svc. This may indicate the server is down or has a problem ---> System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'. The authentication header received from the server was ''. ---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized''.

or

"Credentials failed for Unify Login Display Name (1234abc) to connect to https://api.platform.rmunify.com/unifyprovisioning/identityprovider.svc - System.ApplicationException: There was an error connecting to https://api.platform.rmunify.com/unifyprovisioning/identityprovider.svc. This may indicate the server is down or has a problem ---> System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityNegotiationException: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'api.platform.rmunify.com'. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure."

where Display Name is the name of your registration in the RM Unify AD Sync Configuration tool and (1234abc) is a unique alphanumeric number.

Procedure

  1. Log on to RM Unify as an RM Unify administrator.
  2. Click Management Console, 'Sync users from AD'.
  3. Click Change Key to generate a new registration code.
  4. On your AD Sync server, launch the RM Unify AD Sync Configuration tool, RM Unify Registration and select your registration.
  5. In the 'Registration code' field, enter the registration code generated in step 3 above.
  6. Click Save and then click Register.
  7. In AD, temporarily make a display name change to an AD user account that has been provisioned to Unify and check the change is reflected in RM Unify.
  8. If the change in Step 7 is not reflected in RM Unify, the issue may be your proxy server.  Use your proxy server documentation to whitelist the sub-domain api.platform.rmunify.com.
