Users see error "Webpage cannot be found" when clicking on the Microsoft 365 (School Site) tile
Published Date : 09 Oct 2013   Last Updated : 04 Oct 2024   Content Ref: TEC3501596

Symptoms

You have an existing Microsoft® 365™ SharePoint site and have recently federated with RM Unify. When users click the Microsoft 365 (School Site) tile, they see the HTTP 404 error "Webpage cannot be found". You can, however, manually browse to the existing SharePoint site.

Cause

This can occur when the URL of the existing SharePoint site is entered into the Microsoft 365 wizard when federating with RM Unify.

For example, your existing site is accessible via https://school.sharepoint.com. In step 3 of the Microsoft 365 wizard, you add 'school.sharepoint.com' in the School Site Url field. After completion of the wizard, it attempts and fails to create a SharePoint site with the path https://school.sharepoint.com/school.sharepoint.com and configures the Microsoft 365 (School Site) tile to point to this invalid location.

The School Site Url field should only be populated if you want to create a sub-site, e.g. if you have a site https://school.sharepoint.com and want a sub-site of https://school.sharepoint.com/students, then add 'students' to the School Site Url field.

Requirements

Please raise a support call advising the URL of your working SharePoint site and we will update the Microsoft 365 (School Site) tile to point to the correct location.
